Vitiligo is a condition in which irregular white spots or patches appear on the skin. This condition is also called as leucoderma. It happens due to damage of the cells that produce melanin (skin pigment). It can affect any skin type person. Vitiligo is not a life-threatening condition but, it may have a psychological pressure.
As per Ayurveda, the symptoms of vitiligo relates to a condition called “Shweta Kushta/Shwitra.” All tridoshas (vata, pitta, kapha) gets aggravated in this condition.
Major Causes :
- Excessive exposure to chemicals
- Excessive intake of sour, salty and spicy food items.
How to deal with it?
First of all, self-acceptance is very important. You can not change what happened. But, you can definitely change the way of looking at yourself. Don’t bother yourself by what others will think about your condition. Look upon the people who are suffering from vitiligo and flaunt themselves confidently. The major factor behind various diseases is stress. Vitiligo can be triggered due to stress. Keep yourself away from it. Perform activities that brings happiness to you like gardening, meditation, cooking, dancing, singing, roaming out in nature, or any other. Stay away from the negativity. Relaxing will definitely help you to manage with vitiligo in a better way.
Food to avoid:
- Avoid sour and spicy food.
- Avoid eating excessive salty food items like pickles, packaged chips, others.
- Don’t regularly eat food that is heavy to digest.
Ayurveda recommends avoiding virudhahara i.e. eating incompatible food items like:
- Eating sour fruits with milk.
- Ghee and honey in equal quantity.
- Fish with curd.
Bakuchi Oil Application:
