Gout is a common form of inflammatory arthritis that occurs due to the presence of excess uric acid crystals in joints. It can arise in any joint, but mostly it affects the big toe joint. It represents the joint pain, swelling, and tenderness. 


Gout appears due to the excess deposition of uric acid crystals in the joints. Uric acid is the end product of purine food substances. Our body breaks purine food into uric acid. When the kidney does not expel uric acid through urine, it starts depositing inside the joints. This leads to hyperuricemia, a condition in which uric acid levels are more than normal. It leads to gout.

Purine rich foods are red meat, seafood, bacon, alcohol, dried beans, peas, cauliflower, asparagus, spinach, mushrooms, and others.

Lemon Water:

  • Drinking lemon juice every day is beneficial in such a condition.


Ginger is an anti-inflammatory herb that is very useful in this condition. Its regular consumption may help to reduce swelling and relief from pain.

How to use it?

  • Boil a slice of ginger in one cup of water.
  • Drink it  2-3 times a day in cold weather. 

Fenugreek Poultice:

Fenugreek is also an anti-inflammatory herb that helps to reduce swelling. Applying its poultice on the painful area use may give instant relief from pain and reduce swelling as well.
