The tongue is a vital part of the digestive system. It is a muscular organ that helps to speak, taste, and swallow food. It also provides friendly surroundings to the anaerobic bacterias.

Anaerobic bacterias produce sulfur compounds which cause a stinky smell. In addition, it results in bad breath inside the mouth. Therefore, Ayurveda recommends cleaning the tongue with a scraper. It is one of the mandatory day rituals in Ayurveda. It is also known as “Jivha Nirlekhana.”
