I drink turmeric milk religiously during cold weather, seasonal change, or whenever I get cold or flu. I never took a pill for the common cold or cough, but I always trusted turmeric milk.
Most of the Indians know about this drink from their parents or grandparents. Here, I am sharing my nanny’s trusted recipe with you, which takes no time to prepare.
Turmeric is a versatile spice that can be used with vegetables, lentils, herbal tea, and milk. Among all, turmeric milk is good for flu-like symptoms, and it also helps relieve joint pain.
Benefits of turmeric:
- It improves blood circulation.
- It enhances the immune system.
- Consuming turmeric, along with amla, helps to manage diabetes.
Turmeric milk is the best-known remedy for sneezing, running nose, and cough. Try this by yourself and let me know how it goes for you in the comment section. This hot beverage is suitable for everyone, but to make it more suitable as per your body type, you can make a slight variation in the recipe.
Variations to do according to your Prakriti:
Vata person: You can use buffalo milk instead of cow milk. Add one teaspoon of ghee in your turmeric milk.
Pitta person: Avoid adding black pepper and add a little less turmeric. Avoid drinking it if you have acidity or heating sensation in the body.
Kapha person: Add two pinches of black pepper.
